Ela é Grande Canhão #3

Listen
In this third episode, we use Azores Pride as a vehicle for a conversation about what it means to be an LGBTQIA+ person in the Azores. To do so, we invited a friend of ours, Cristiano Câmara, originally from São Vicente Ferreira on the island of São Miguel. We start big with pronouns and gender fluidity, then move on to a complaining reflection on the aesthetic standards imposed on us. Returning to the moment that sparked this conversation, we talk about the LGBTQIA+ Pride March in Ponta Delgada, reflecting not only on its beauty and power, but also on its limitations as an event that is supposed to unite us.
Thus, we talk not only about the audacity of the Azorean LGBTI+ community, but also about the dichotomy between one's own experience and systemic reality, where we speak directly to the people listening to us.
This episode features musical recommendations and LGBTI+ references, as well as testimonials full of nuance, for which we are eternally grateful for the lessons learned.
